9 - 12 December 2004, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Following the success of the 1992-1997, Face 2 Face tournaments held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, a group of enthusiast archers are organizing a similar tournament in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The first of a series of this tournament is scheduled for December, 9 to 12, 2004.

The concept of the tournament is the same as that used in the very successful Eindhoven tournaments and is essentially a poule system over a number of rounds where duals are shot between participating top archers. Qualification for the next round is by poule ranking and score. The three day tournament is known for the tension experienced by both participants and spectators. From the start the contest is shot in the form of duals, which gives an excellent opportunity for the archers to train on the typical final rounds used in more regular competitions. To enhance the tension and the attractiveness of the tournament the total time to shoot three arrows has been reduced to 90 seconds.

The F2F tournament is held indoors and the target distance is 18 meters. Participation is open for both Recurve (Freestyle) and Compound top archers both men and woman. In both categories man and woman compete in their own class.

Game concept in short:
Per category:
Three qualification rounds 48 participants max 60 arrows per round
Semi finals best of 5 sets 4 participants maximum of 20 arrows
Finals best of 7 sets 2 participants maximum of 28 arrows

The maximum amount of arrows to shoot in the complete tournament is 228.

The advantage in setting up the tournament in the described manner is that it gives an interesting spectacle for an audience since the scores and results are easily displayed on TV screens or video walls. This especially so since the used targets will be so called “Dutch Targets”. A target consisting of three small targets in a vertical row. The archers are supposed to shoot one arrow at each of these small targets starting from the top going down. Entrance fee for participating archers is € 50,00. For the best ranking participants in each class prize money is available. Please see the web pages at www.face2face-archery.org for the current total amount of prize money to win. This amount will be adjusted over time depending on the financial situation of the organizer.

The current organization CAT will invite top archers by sending invitations to the various National Archery Associations and, or alternatively to so called pro-teams. We think that in this way we will get the best archers in the world to participate in the tournament and make it a very interesting Archery event.

The original Face 2 Face Tournament was an initiative of the “TOP Archery” foundation. Participating in this organization and the initiators of this very successful tournament were Harry Jacobs, Hans Blüm, Carry van Gool and Harry van de Vondervoort.

New in this edition of the Face 2 Face Archery Tournament is that a number of wildcard are available for archers to compete for, in open qualification rounds in advance of the tournament itself. Entrance fee for this competition is € 20.00. The Face 2 Face Archery Tournament will be held in the “Sporthallen Zuid”, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. December, 9 - 12, 2004. Two halls will be available, one main hall for the tournament itself and one smaller hall where participating archers can train and warm up. The main hall will allow for 4000 spectators. A VIP room will be facilitated and there is a small restaurant available.

The organization will arrange for hotel facilities close to the tournament location and well reachable for people traveling by car, train or airplane. Transportation between the hotel and tournament facility will be taken care of and if desired we can take care of transportation between airport or train station and hotel. The Concordia Archery Tournaments Foundation (CAT) was established in 2003 for the purpose of promoting archery in the Netherlands. The CAT Foundation is the organizer of the Face 2 Face Archery Tournament 2004 and has the intention of making it an annual event.

très interressant pour se préparer aux Gd prix locaux dans une bonne ambiance
dans le même style, je recommande le double FITA indoor de Libramont fin mars (4 distances !!!) : très bonne préparation avant d'attaquer l'extérieur Wink

Considering the current list of participants I think the 2004 F2F Tournament will be very interresting ... really hope some French and Italian archer will be there too ...

Just saw Valérie Fabre and Frank Karsenty on the participants list ... who will be the next top French archer to register ? Very Happy

I also see at this URL that there will be a seminar by Guy Krueger (a member of the US recurve National Team who spent time in South Korea) about Olympic Style Archery Seminar on Korean Technique and Training !
